Young Tourism Leaders program
The Queensland Government’s Young Tourism Leaders program promotes role models to encourage and inspire young people to consider a career in tourism.
If you’d like to invite a Young Tourism Leader to speak to your students, contact the program at ytl@dtis.qld.gov.au.
The leaders present at schools and engage with vocational and tertiary students, participating in careers events to share stories of their professional journey. Additionally, they promote the diversity of work in tourism and provide valuable insights and advice on how to kickstart a career in tourism.
Salute to Excellence Awards
The QTIC Salute to Excellence Awards recognise exceptional secondary students, and teachers and trainers for their contribution to skill development in Queensland’s tourism and hospitality industry through school-based traineeships and apprenticeships.
The annual awards program celebrates talented students who aspire to pursue a career in tourism and recognises the educators and trainers who’ve dedicated themselves to nurturing talent.
Fantastic prizes are up for grabs in addition to invaluable mentoring and work experience opportunities. The program is free to enter.
Regional Tourism Careers Roadshow
Designed to showcase the tourism industry to secondary students, the QTIC Regional Tourism Careers Roadshow connects with Queensland schools and demonstrates the exciting nature of careers in tourism and hospitality.
The all-day roadshow events are filled with activities that highlight the various career paths that are available in the tourism industry. The activities are led by local industry businesses, allowing students to receive genuine career advice.
