Visitor information officer

Visitor information officers provide travel and accommodation information to tourists, promote tourism and assess tourism opportunities for interesting places.

Day-to-day

  • Answer questions from tourists and offer suggestions about tours, travel routes, accommodation and local customs
  • Provide literature and information on local and interstate tours and places of interest
  • Discuss transport availability and cost
  • Sell souvenirs and other merchandise
  • Assist travel agents and tour operators in preparing itineraries for tourists
  • Be responsible for overall presentation of the information centre
