Train driver
Train drivers drive trains to transport passengers on railways.
Day-to-day
- Operate the train’s controls
- Stop at stations and set locations to pick up and set down passengers
- Open and close doors before and after passengers board or disembark
- Observe signals, track conditions, nearby traffic and prescribed speeds to ensure safety
- Monitor indicator gauges, change controls and power supply poles and report operating irregularities
- Check time and adherence to timetables
- Might advise passengers on destinations
