Maintenance manager

Maintenance managers maintain and improve the company’s facilities by overseeing the installation, repair and upkeep of an employer’s property, including machines, mechanical systems, buildings and other structures. Maintenance managers delegate tasks such as painting, drywall repair, electrical, heating and air conditioning work.

Day-to-day

  • Supervise maintenance personnel
  • Establish priorities in maintenance schedules
  • Maintain quality and safety standards
  • Coordinate work performed by outside contractors
  • Control and monitor inventory
  • Ensure all vehicles are cleaned, fuelled and in proper working order
  • Ability to identify opportunity to cost save through reduced emission pathways

How to become a Maintenance manager

  • You need experience in maintenance and proven ability to work as a maintenance manager. While formal qualifications aren’t essential, a university or Vocational Education and Training (VET) course may be useful.
